Heresy in Motion

I am just now starting to play around with shooting videos to show of models. Aint the internet great?! With youtube it is just too easy to share some pictures in motion with like-minded gamers. Something that every teenager has already figured out, but I guess gamers are just late to the party. 

Anyway, my first run through wasn't great. But I see where I can make improvements. Lighting as always is the biggest issue and I already have some thoughts about this. The idea actually came from a video from the Independent Characters Facebook page where Carl had some videos of a battle. I hope to take this idea as far as possible, even making short battle reports with a more 'shaky' cam feel.

The Heresy Begins...

I've really enjoyed the process of putting together a Heresy Era army. The new models are fantastic of course. But the real joy is trying to put together models that were meant to kill xenos but are now forced to slay other battle brothers. Hordes of bolters, the new volkite charges, missile launchers, these are all weapons that can kill even the mightiest of marines (with a bit of luck).
The terminators, while being an excellent kit from Forge World, still have the problems of terminators. Armed with low initiative weapons, they killed only when they were allowed to strike. Which, sadly, wasn't that often. But who cares, the models are just awesome.
One thing that people commonly were asking about was how well the brass etch worked on the new style models. If you aren't used to brass etch, it can be a little tricky to get off of the sprue and onto the model. But once there, it catches detail amazingly well and can turn a standard guard basilisk into a machine of the Death Guard.

Adepticon: Horus Heresy Betrayal Tournament

The first day of Adepticon this year was also when the first Adepticon Horus Heresy event was held. Due to the weather delays I know a few people who wanted to play were not able, but still we had about 12 players.

This awesome Death Guard army belongs to Ty F. He ended up winning the event.

Next, we had the ringers army. It was a beautiful World Eater's army painted by Battleworthy Arts. What was funny is that we were looking at this army on Ebay on the drive up to Chicago. 

This army ended up being Horus' champion. 

I didn't catch this lads name, however he had an excellent World Eater's army. 

Finally, here are a couple of pictures from my Death Guard army. It was a fun, furious five weeks of painting and getting the army ready. The army played well, and I loved running Space Marine Tactical squads twenty strong!

Painting this model was more fun that I thought it would be. Its going to be hard to concentrate on finishing those weak fleshed Imperial Guard so that I can start on some real models, like the Plague Marines!
